Apply for Scene Night

Scene Night is our monthly scratch night at Playhouse East, usually the last Friday of the month. Applications are open all year round: if you do not see a date listed below, apply anyway and we will keep you on file for the next night with space. We programme new writing and established pieces alike, so whether it is a first draft or something you already know inside out, we want to hear about it.

How Scene Night works

Pieces run up to 15 minutes. You rehearse and direct it yourselves and get it up on its feet. Treat it like a real performance and go for it. After each piece you get feedback from James, who hosts the night, and then a group discussion with the audience for their instant reaction, which James moderates. It is a supportive room. Everyone is there because they want to see the work land.

Applying

This is a rolling open call. You do not apply for a particular night: send us the piece and we will get back to you about the next Scene Night with a slot free. If a date does not work for you, say so in the notes below and we will hold you for a later one.
